I am taking the plunge..

Picture: courtesy of Google pictures.

I´ve had a look at yesterdays local paper and actually spotted a job advertisement which would suit me just fine.
– Local (same street as my current job actually, just different side of the road ;-))
– Interesting job specifications.
– AWAY from what I am doing now. AWAY from constant stress and unpaid overtime.

So, I´ve spent all afternoon, much to Mr CB´s delight (not) updating my horribly out of date curriculum vitae.

All I have to do now is have a decent picture taken, upload it into my application and… succeed in getting an interview for starters.

Easy, right? To be continued….

I am your average wife,mother,friend,employee....a bit lost in my world, a bit crazy at times but always good for a laugh - I think ;-)

I know that story. We call them resumes over here. I spent hours updating, and I think the barrier I’m running into is my age. So I’m looking at doing what I’d rather be doing and re-inventing myself as the saying goes.

You´re right, age is against us, and to top it, I am female with 3 kids, most employers will probably take one look and cast me aside straight away. On the other hand, I have been lucky before … I´d say keep re-inventing yourself and do what you like best (I can´t, monewise..). But do keep looking for a job that suits you, you never know, we both might get lucky 😉

Working on it. I would modify that for you. I would say, since you are working, to start planning now on doing what you want to do, not what you need to do. There are lots of great books for help in that area, like “Pathfinder” by Nicolas Lore. I get to plan on what I want to do by making it a go before my unemployment insurance runs out. Seems I can’t even land a part time job these days! What offsets the female with 3 kids is a husband. Sorry to say at times, and many of the male halves are deadbeats, and really not needed to qualify a woman, but that’s the way it is for now. Is this where we might say, “Stiff upper lip, chap!”

Weird, their is no reply button above?? Anyhow, I guess you are right, I should start while I am ahead, I just googled the book on Amazon, looks interesting with good reviews, I just have to find a UK supplier, last time I ordered books from the States, I ended up having to pick them up from our local customs office 😦 . And yes, sure, Mr CB offsets me, true but not exactly the way I´d like it to be ;-). Finding a job is so difficult at the moment because the competition is so fierce, so many people are looking for jobs, this does not mean that you are not good enough, or too old, just bear that in mind and try and keep your spirits up.
