Free write Friday – “oh to be a fly on the wall”

She looked at him suspiciously. “Where are you going”, she asked?
His head stayed down, he did not look up when he mumbled “out, got to work, Peter called in sick”. He gave her a quick peek on the cheek and left without looking back.
She followed him to the door, looked out of the window as he got into the car. “I´m scarred”, she thought. “He´s different, has been ever since he started working for that security firm, night shifts, long hours, lots of overtime”. Tears run down her face, would she have the courage to follow him tonight, as she had been meaning to for the past week? It seemed such a lack of trust, but…… Quickly she grabbed her jacked and followed him, out into the night.

She drove slowly, following him at a save distance, trying not to be seen.

He drove straight to work, did not take any de-tours, did not meet or pick up anyone. Could she have been wrong, was she paranoid?

Susan was about to turn round and go home when suddenly.. what was that? She saw Peter, all dressed up in his smart, black security uniform entering the building. “Didn´t Mark say that Peter was ill, that he had to stand in for him?” She held her breath, waited… 5 min, 10 it seemed like an eternity.

“There, Mark came out again, tis time wearing normal street clothes, what was going on? Susan did not have to wait long, a car pulled up and a stunning looking blond got out, kissed her husband passionately and drove him away.

“What shall I do?” Susan thought, her heart aching, her eyes hurting from crying. She followed Mark and his mistress until they pulled up at a quiet motel off the main road. Watching them book in and entering room 6 (what a coincidence), she considered her options: “Should she approach them?” Quietly, she got out of the car and walked towards room 6. “Oh my God” she thought, “the curtains aren´t even closed properly”. She could not help but take a step closer, peak inside where she watched her husband of seven years kissing this total stranger. He whispered something into her ear, Susan could not make out what he said but the woman laughed, then she bend backwards while he kissed her nose, her neck and then slowly continued southwards.
Susan cried out, she pushed a fist into her mouth, bit herself until she could taste blood, all to prevent herself from making any more noises, imagine being found out, spying on your husband having sex with a stranger.

What should she do? She wished her legs to move, to turn but she was paralyzed, forced to watch the two of them having sex, using different positions, making out the way Mark never had when he was with her.
Suddenly she heard a car, she ducked so as not to be seen in the cars headlights. It was as if the spell had been broken, Susan turned, ran to the car and quickly drove home.

When Mark came home in the early hours of the morning, Susan waited up, she hadn´t slept all night.

“How was your shift”, she asked when he came in and took his working uniform off. “Fine, ” he said, “Peter will be back tomorrow night, it was just a one-off, one of those things”.
“Right”, she said and looked him in the eyes, “Night then”, she said as she switched off the light.
