don´t you just love them?? It´s Carnival here in Germany and as every year, I was running late on getting the costumes ready.
Did I ask them well in advance – yes.
Did they come up with any suggestions – No, ´course not.
Still, I managed to get myself a costume last Saturday (going out with the girls this Saturday) and I was told that the middle one only wanted to wear his clothes inside out (stupid idea in the first place but, what the heck).
So, on Thursday evening, after having come home from work I realized I still had to clean the oven for dinner, managed to flood my kitchen in the process :-(.
Then, at half past seven (bed time for the wee one) I suddenly remembered that he did not have a costume so, off we went. – Two hours and a hefty 50 Euro later we had a police-mans outfit, with helmet, gun and hand cuffs. I was chuffed – needless to say my husband wasn´t.
Today, it´s Carnival at school. What do the beloved kids do???
Middle one decides that inside out clothes are stupid and anyway, he would have wanted a costume if only they weren´t so expensive – HELLO – is that not up to me to decide and worry about???
Wee one decides that police costume will only do for today at school, Monday he wears something different – actually this morning he wanted to go as a NERD – be my guest I said, you´re on the right track 😉
To sum it up, middle child goes as bear with last years costume, wee one wears police jacket with T-shirt (boy am I getting in the shit with my mum tonight – far too cold she recons) and black trousers.
And mum – is having a HEADACHE, wondering where I´m going wrong with my kids that every morning there is some kind of palaver in our household.
And on that note I will now spend a nice relaxed day at work – or so I hope.
